I can't believe it is time to start getting ready for a garden again. We have had such a mild winter, I probably could have just kept last year's garden going! I think it has dipped below freezing only a few times this winter. Today, for example, temperatures in the 80s are expected.
Even though we live in the South, we still usually experience some kind of winter. Usually we'll have a couple months of cool/cold temperatures and gray skies. This year, though, it has been beautiful! In fact, our Winter was so non-existent, I kind of miss it. An excuse to put on some sweaters isn't the worst thing in the world, you know?
Yesterday I put in an order for some seeds and other plants. As usual, I will start most of my garden from seeds. This year I'm planning for tomatoes (both cherry and slicing varieties,) cucumbers, lettuce, peppers and sunflowers. I should get the seeds within the next few days and then I'll plant them in trays to get them started. Once they are big enough, and the threat of frost is at bay, I will plant them and wait.
With any luck, this year's garden will be as plentiful as last years!
