It's kind of a shame that we've come to expect a horrible experience any time we have to call a customer service number.
Imagine my shock and delight when I called Carnival this afternoon for what I considered a minor issue with our upcoming cruise, but what I expected to take most of my lunch hour to resolve. I even mentally prepared for it. Knowing how horrible these experiences tend to be, I have to psych myself up for it. I know that 9 times out of 10 I will have to escalate the call to a supervisor. Or I will be transferred into oblivion. Or I will be just disconnected mid-call.
I called Carnival customer service and was told they would have to transfer me. I prepared for the worst. I fully expected to get disconnected or get transferred to oblivion. The rep couldn't find the right extension to transfer my call to, so she gave me a direct number. Again, I prepared for the worst. I was sure that when I called the number she provided I would get a disconnected line or a full voicemail box. Instead, I got a live person who was friendly and who resolved my problem in less than 2 minutes. He apologized several times for the inconvenience and had me on my way in no time at all.
I was shocked that it went so smoothly and I was able to spend the rest of my lunch hour relaxing with my lunch in the park. Comcast....take a lesson.
