It's been so long since I blogged. Now that Facebook has invaded the world, it seems like I don't have as much to blog about because I've already put it in my Facebook status. Nevermind that I don't lead the most exciting life in the world. It's not like I have so much going on that I just don't have time to blog. I have PLENTY of time. PLENTY. I just don't think blogging about whiling away the hours on the couch in front of the tv makes for a riveting blog.
Ooooh....speaking of couches. We got a new one. It's leather and lovely. Our old one was getting too worn. The old one (like the new) had a recliner at each end of the sofa. One the last day the old one was in our house, the recliner mechanism on Bill's side broke. How timely was that?!? The next day the new one arrived and we were back in business.
The day our new couch arrived, so did our friend Janice from Pensacola. She was in for the long Thanksgiving weekend. We have spent almost every Thanksgiving for the past 7 or 8 years with her. We used to go to Orlando and play at the amusement parks. Now, we just hang out at either our house or her's for the weekend. We eat and drink and sing and drink and sing and drink.
Thanksgiving itself was fun enough. I always enjoy cooking and making all the food. We've done it so many times that I have it down to a science now. Everything was timed perfectly. We had only a couple mishaps.
After everything was ready to go, and before Bill's parents arrived, I decided to lay down for a bit. I needed to get some quiet time before the big meal. Just as I put my head to pillow I heard a loud crash in the kitchen. While Bill was getting the dishes ready for the table and broke a plate right next to the pumpkin pie. As a result, tiny shard of glass became beautiful decoration on my pumpkin pie. I know it was an accident but I was still pissed. Not pissed enough to make a big deal out of it, though. I figured I will just make another one next weekend.
The other incident wasn't nearly as exciting. I forgot to put turnips on the table. Big woo.
The dinner itself was lovely. Plenty of turkey and other goodness.
The rest of the weekend we just played with Janice. It was a nice, relaxing weekend. Relaxing.
This coming weekend will be spent doing some holiday baking and decorating. This will be the first year we put up a tree with Bennett in the house. I fear for that tree!
