bad blogger

It's been so long since I blogged.  Now that Facebook has invaded the world, it seems like I don't have as much to blog about because I've already put it in my Facebook status.  Nevermind that I don't lead the most exciting life in the world.  It's not like I have so much going on that I just don't have time to blog.  I have PLENTY of time.  PLENTY.  I just don't think blogging about whiling away the hours on the couch in front of the tv makes for a riveting blog.

Ooooh....speaking of couches.  We got a new one.  It's leather and lovely.  Our old one was getting too worn.  The old one (like the new) had a recliner at each end of the sofa.  One the last day the old one was in our house, the recliner mechanism on Bill's side broke.  How timely was that?!?  The next day the new one arrived and we were back in business.

The day our new couch arrived, so did our friend Janice from Pensacola.  She was in for the long Thanksgiving weekend.  We have spent almost every Thanksgiving for the past 7 or 8 years with her.  We used to go to Orlando and play at the amusement parks.  Now, we just hang out at either our house or her's for the weekend.  We eat and drink and sing and drink and sing and drink.

Thanksgiving itself was fun enough.  I always enjoy cooking and making all the food.  We've done it so many times that I have it down to a science now.  Everything was timed perfectly.  We had only a couple mishaps.

After everything was ready to go, and before Bill's parents arrived, I decided to lay down for a bit.  I needed to get some quiet time before the big meal.  Just as I put my head to pillow I heard a loud crash in the kitchen.  While Bill was getting the dishes ready for the table and broke a plate right next to the pumpkin pie.  As a result, tiny shard of glass became beautiful decoration on my pumpkin pie.  I know it was an accident but I was still pissed.  Not pissed enough to make a big deal out of it, though.  I figured I will just make another one next weekend.

The other incident wasn't nearly as exciting.  I forgot to put turnips on the table.  Big woo.

The dinner itself was lovely.  Plenty of turkey and other goodness.

The rest of the weekend we just played with Janice.  It was a nice, relaxing weekend.  Relaxing.

This coming weekend will be spent doing some holiday baking and decorating.  This will be the first year we put up a tree with Bennett in the house.  I fear for that tree!

Breakfast
You wouldn't be caught dead, where?
I wouldn't be caught dead in a meth lab.  I have never been to one, but based on what I've seen on television and in the newspaper, they aren't someplace I'd like to wile away the hours.

Lunch

Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? Yes.  I have had two procedures on my heart.  Pretty scary.  I also had my life threatened in a record store in Rochester, NY when I was about 12.  The guy was a complete nutcase and, according to the proprietor of the shop, harmless, but I was scared nonetheless.

Dinner
What are you passionate about?
Running and cooking

Midnight Snack
Have you ever won a trophy? Sure.  I've won a few for running.  I won one for tennis in high school, too.

Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?) Butter is not the enemy.

Trying to clean house

We have a lot of crap.  Over the years, Bill and I have managed to pack away a fair amount of useless garbage.

You know how it is.  Somebody gives you a gift that doesn't really suit you and it gets tucked away in a closet somewhere.  Or, for some reason you just can't part with that radio that you haven't used in 5 years.

Well, today was the day we did something about it.  Over the course of several hours, I took it upon myself to clean out several closets.  I'm not talking about clothes.  I'm talking about old telephones, old radios, old books, old sheets, old comforters, old lamps...well, you get the idea.  I gathered the things I knew were going to Goodwill in a not-so-organized pile.  I created another pile of things that I thought might be candidates for the charity pile, but wanted Bill to review first.

Surprisingly we made it through the process with little stress.  I expected Bill and I to battle over whether something should stay or go.  We didn't though.  It was really quite easy.

In all we got rid of:
 - 6 books
 - 1 cd player
 - 1 laptop computer
 - 2 printers
 - 2 headphones
 - 3 cordless phones
 - 1 toy bank
 - 1 framed print
 - 1 large mirror
 - 1 sport coat
 - 2 lamps
 - 1 ironing board
 - 2 routers
 - 1 camera case
 - 2 cameras
 - 2 whirlpool bathtub attachment thingies
 - 3 comforters
 - 4 blankets
 - 2 sets of sheets
 - 1 television
 - 1 electric broom
 - 2 travel bags
 - 1 board game

Whew!!  It was an tiring afternoon, but well worth it.

Food 4 Thought Friday

Food 4 Thought Friday ~ This week's questions:

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Breakfast
What is the last thing you watched on TV?
The Dr Oz show.

Lunch

Do you speak more than one language?
Not really.  I used to be able to speak Spanish well enough to have a VERY basic conversation.  But that was long ago.

Dinner

What are your favorite websites to visit?

www.cruisecritic.com
www.facebook.com

Midnight Snack
You have won a prize. The prize has two options, and you can choose either (but not both). The first option is a year in Europe with a monthly stipend of $2,000. The second option is ten minutes on the moon. Which do you choose and why?
Europe because I've always wanted to go there, and a year there would be awesome.  I've never really had a desire to go to the moon.  I mean, there's not really much there except a flag and some old junk that our astronauts left up there.

Food 4 Thought Friday ~ This week's questions:

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Breakfast
What was your high and low of the week?
High was "Work-free Wednesday"  Plenty of fun not working.  Low point is right about now.  I'm so freaking tired.  I woke up at 1am with acid reflux and didn't really get back to sleep very well after that.  So now I'm exhausted.

Lunch
What is something you used to do religiously that you no longer do? I used to take a long, relaxing bubble bath EVERY Sunday.  It would relax and prepare me for the coming week's stresses.  Now, I just don't do it as much.

Dinner

What is something you now do that you never in your wildest dreams thought you would be doing?
Running.  10 years ago I wouldn't have imagined that I would have run 1 mile nevermind 26.2.  Now I run all the time.

Midnight Snack
How much do you enjoy Halloween?  On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 0.  It's really not my favorite holiday at all.

Recipe of the Week(instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?)
